Hit and Pay

September 15, 2008 yagyaraman 2 comments

Two weeks back, while we were back from Cosmos mall, the car which was taking reverse in front of our car, hit the car inspite of horn to indicate that I am standing back. After he turned, he stopped for me to come. He came and saw the dent in the car and immediatley said “I am Extremely sorry. Due to the rain, I was not able to see the car behind my car. Whatever it takes to rectify this, I will bear the cost” and gave me his Mobile number, residence number and Office Number. When people dont even bother to stop after hitting, this man was completely different.

I went to the Hyundai service centre and they said the damange would cost around Rs. 4000/. I then called up that guy and he said “Thats perfectly fine. I will pay you”. I was calling him for couple of times and the response was not favourable :-) . I thought this is also similar to other cases. Then one evening, I get a call from his office manager saying he has been asked to give Rs. 4000 to me for the small accident and that the office boy would hand over the money in my house.

The next day evening, I got the money for rectifying the damage. There are also people like this who pay for their mistake when they had a chance to run away. Really an excellent experience.

Innovative Film City

September 13, 2008 yagyaraman 2 comments

Last Saturday, me and Madhu had been to Innovative Film City in Bidadi (Close to Wonder La). We reached there around 10:30 when it opens. There were just around 10 cars when we entered. The entrance was amazing. Once we entered we were received by the Customer Representatives and they explained us about the attractions and the rate applicable. We could either pay Rs.50 as entrance fees and pay for every thing inside individually or pay Rs. 699 (they called VIP ticket) and go ahead for everything once. We decided to go for 699 as we had the whole day for us.

Immediately on getting the ticket (for some reason the Credit Card payment did not work on that day and we had to pay cash) one more person gave a pamplet which contained all the attractions inside and also ranked it so that we could finish the ones which would get more crowd earlier so that we spend less time in queue. Really a good and a helpful gesture.

Went to the 4D movie first and it was really an amazingly outstanding experience. With special glasses to be worn we were all set for the movie. The object almost came so close and it was almost hitting us. In fact, I adjusted and moved couple of times so that the objects does not hit me. There was a cool spray in some situations on the face to take us through the experience. We were almost trying to touch the objects that came on the screen as they appeared so close. The movie was about Big Bang and how lives came into existence and how it has come through years. Dinosarus were almost opening the mouth and were about to eat us.

After 4D, went into the Video Games and we have Rs. 100 each for the VIP ticket and enjoyed Archery, Cycling, Caring, Shooting etc etc.. Really a wide variety of games to suit all age groups. The Child in us comes out immediately on seeing those and we become kids. Really worth it.

Next was Wax museum and many famous personalities were there. Dalai Lama was excellent. Gandhi, Clinton, Harry Poter, Arnold, Michael Jackson, Elwis, Shakespeare, Albert Einstein etc etc.. were there. We took photos with almost everyone there :-) .

Next was Ripleys Believe it or Not. It was good and the Optical Illusion section in that was really amazing. Should go through inside that once to experience that :-)

Now, it was time for us to feed our Stomach and there were few restaurants and nothing looked exciting so went into Cafe Coffee Day.

After the lunch, went to Mirror Maze. It was fun to be in a place with so many mirrors around you and to identify if you are actually walking towards an open place or trying to walk into the mirror. We almost ran into the mirror a couple of times and found out the way to the Exit at last. Really enjoyable fun on that.

Dinosaur museum and Fossil museum was next but it was really not very exciting.

After that it was time to Go Kart and I went in and it was a pretty small track but the crowd was really less for Go Kart compared to other places.

There was an artificial beach with waves (couple of times for every half an hour) and there was a place to relax and enjoy the ambience.

There was a Miniature City which had a miniature version of a Foot ball Stadium, Air Port, Ring Road, Statues etc and everything in a city. The caption there said something like “This is how King Kong would have felt on seeing our city”. That was true. Everything was so small and well done.

Finally decided to leave the place around 5:30. Whatever we saw before lunch was really good and after lunch main attraction was Mirror Maze. Others were ordinary. But on the whole a good place to spend a Weekend.

A Retail Street where many retail shops like Bata (already Open), Big Bazaar, Some branded clothing etc are coming up along with a 21 Theatre Multiplex. Once it is completely would surely be a good and regular Weekend outing for many in Bangalore.

Vinayaka Chathurthi in our House

After Krishna Jayanthi, it was the first Vinayaka Chathurthi in our house after our house.

Bought a Man pillayar, Arugampul, Erukkam malai, Pazham, Vethalai etc.. the day before the festival in Marthahalli. Wow!!!! all rates shotted up and it was their decision and the more you bargain, you actually gain…

On the day of the Pillay Chathurthi, Madhu decorated the Pillayar in the house and the Pooja was done with Prasatham.

After celebrating festival and an excellent food, we went around Bangalore to darshan many big Pillayars. In every road we travelled, there were Pillayars of various sizes. Only God who takes various avtars and keeps himself updated with latest technology is Pillayar. In fact, the year Kargil war happened, there were Pillayars in Tankers and with Guns. Couple of years back, I saw a Hugeeee Pillayar with a Laptop.

All set and done it is always an wonderfully enjoyable experience to see Pillayar in different forms.

Intelligent Device

Scenario 1:
You reach office and this device tells you, you travelled 18 Kms in 30 minutes 50 seconds, you touched a maximum speed of 95 Km and Average Speed is around 36 Kms.

Scenario 2:
You travel from Place A to Place B. One day you have to travel from Place C to Place A and you do not know the route. You have this device which SPEAKS tells you “Go in the course of the road for next 8 Kilo meters”. After you travel that long, the device instructs “Keep left and you need to take a left turn here” and also gives details of important landmarks on the way like Petrol Punk, School, Mall etc….It can also suggest alternate routes.

Scenario 3:
You get up early in the morning and the same device also tells you the Weather forecast for your city, What is the maximum, minimum temparature. How is the climate going to be Hot / Rain / Thunderstorm / Heavy Thunderstorm and many the times, it ends up being right.

Wont this be intresting. I had this experience. It was thrilling to see my new Nokia E71 do all these for me. I never knew GPS is good in Bangalore. When I tried the GPS and Nokia Maps in my mobile, was completely Zapped. There was a clear instruction on the Outer RIng Road when I set the destination of travel is my house, it started guiding me :-)

Now I have started setting landmarks on my mobile so that I can use it.

Want to know why I changed to Nokia. Read here.

Free Pizza

September 2, 2008 yagyaraman 2 comments

Very rarely me and Madhu have had Pizza. Last Sunday, we decided to order Pizza and placed the order. It is 39 minutes or Free for delivery. The Pizza Corner is in Cosmos Mall, around 1.5 kms from Home. It took 50 minutes for the order to be delivered. While I called up the Customer care to check the status they said, the delivery boy has already left. By that time itself, it was past their committed time. I asked what should I do, they said you can take it COMPLIMENTARY as it did not come within their time.

5 minutes later, the delivery boy rang the bell. When I said, I have been informed that it would be Complimentary, immediately he said there was an Accident and it got late because of that. Then he dialled to the Manager and he said since it was Sunday, there were more orders. Contradicting statements from two different people explaining the reasons. Finally when I said Customer care said it would be FREE, they both agreed.

There was a line in the paper that was given, which read “We do not penalize the Delivery boys for the delay”. I was happy if that is the case.

For the first time, got free Pizza from Pizza Corner for late delivery!!!
