Reliance Fresh Billing…Be Careful
Me and Madhu had been to a Reliance Fresh store near our house. After picking up all we needed in a trolley, went and stood in the billing counter.
I was much intrested in the Software and System, Reliance Fresh uses for billing because it is different from what I have seen in other Retail chain stores. Their system is touch screen based and is full of many options rather than typing for changes. But like all other stores, once the Cashier scans the product, the name of the Product and the rates would be displayed there.
To see the Software, I went on the other side near the Cashier while he was billing. We had picked up Shampoo bottle of 400 ml and the MRP was Rs. 164/-. I remembered that clearly because we compared the rate of 400 ml with 200 ml and found it to be much beneficial to buy 400 ml. Surprisingly, when the Cashier scans the shampoo bottle, the system displays the name and rate as Rs. 196/-. I was surprised and the Cashier continued to pick up the next product so that he can finish it fast and start clearing the queue. I immediately picked up the Shampoo and showed him that MRP itself is Rs. 164/- but how come it displays Rs. 196/- He did not speak a word and went on to call a Supervisor, who came and compared and picked up the Shampoo bottle and went without saying anything. When I asked the Cashier what is happened, he cooly said “There is some entry problem and Supervisor will report it to the Systems division” and continued the billing. Later, he asked us to pick up some other Shampoo bottle with different quantity and we ended up picking 200 ml bottle.
Immediately I thought, if alone I had not noticed it I would end up paying Rs. 30/- extra and not just that, I never tend to compare the bills with the MRP of each product, because I depend / rely on Computer billing (for that matter, I am sure most of us do that). I am really not sure if it was just a mistake or fraud. I have heard something similar happened in Big Bazaar, but I had the first hand experience of the same in Reliance Fresh.

Its our luck that we saw them cheating, yes literally cheating.. but we cannot be so careful wen we buy so many items.. But in bangalore no other go.. there r no much small shops like chennai where they cant cheat us.. here in cool ac atmosphere all software engineers r cheated nicely..
I am a regular client of Relince Fresh store of NATHU COLONY CHOWK, SHAHDARA, DELHI-93. In my visit almost I found that except products (toiletry, dairy product etc), always cannot get Brown Bread of Harvest & English Oven in these store, even fruits, vegetables are not fresh as Relince promisses to the custormer. Even that when you complaint to the supervisor, that time situation comes burst because they don’t have proper & satisfaction answer for regular customer & some times if you ask any enquiry about the products, almost the counter girls never reply properly & the way of talking to the customer is very poor & Irritating. So this is service provide by RELINCE FRESH to the customer?
Hi,
I bought some apples in Reliance Fresh, BTM Layout, Bangalore. Out of six apples 4 were rotten. I took them to store along with bill. The store supervisor says very rashly we are not going to refund, you can do whatever you want to do!!!!. Is this the way to talk with the customer? Reliance Management should teach them how to speak with customers. And maintain the good quality items in the store. Otherwise remove that FRESH from the store name.
Thanks,
Kanna Reddy
I had a same kind of experience
Billing Fraud At MORE
I went to a departmental store named MORE (formerly TRINETHRA) at Mylapore (cutchery road) to buy some items. I took two packets of milk, a bunch of coriander leaves and a packet of mushrooms. Then at the cash counter they gave me the bill for the three items.
I was shocked to see the price of the coriander leaf bunch as Rs. 20. Because it’s price was written as only Rs. 3 in the rack .
I immediately showed the bill to the guy at the counter and asked him why it was printed wrongly. Without saying anything he gave me the balance amount of Rs. 17.
But I scolded him as this was not the first time the wrong billing (I can say fraud billing) happened in a departmental store. The guy didn’t speak a word.
They have been doing such things for a long time. This time I wanted to be serious and I would like to make others aware of such fraud billing at many departmental stores. These things are still happening in SPENCER’S, BIG BAZAAR and RELIANCE FRESH also.
So whenever you go to a departmental store, have a tendency to check your Bills and MRP of the items. If you can’t do this for all the items when you have a long list, do check at least for the major items!
And don’t believe the store guys who blame the billing machines. Because even the billing machine can be manipulated purposely to make such billing.
So please do check the bill before leaving!
IT IS OUR HARD EARNED MONEY!
