No Parking Fine
Last week, had parked the Car in AECS Layout, Kundanahalli and went to a Medicine shop, not realizing where I parked was “NO PARKING“. Within 10 minutes, I came and started driving and after driving few meters realized something was stuck in the windshield. Stopped the car and picked up the paper and it was a charge slip for parking in “NO PARKING ZONE”.
Fine of Rs. 100/- to be paid within 24 hours either online or through Bangalore One centers. I turned around to see, but could not figure out any Policeman (Enga irundhu vandhar…eppo sticker ottinar….eppo ponar…….ethuvum theriayala). But almost 15 cars which had parked similar to mine all had similar stickers (appada…..I am not alone….athula oru chinna santhosam)
Came home and paid the fine Online immediately so that I dont forget it. For the first time
1. Caught for No Parking without seeing a Physical Policeman
2. No Negotiations (100 here…else 500 in court, No no I have only 50, ok then no receipt etc…)
3. Did not pay in Physical cash (online payment)
For the first time, felt good after paying fine :-) [Immediately Magalir Mattum dialogue came to my mind "Technology has improved sooooooooooo much"]
iPhone from HTC
Three weeks back migrated from HTC Touch Pro to iPhone 3GS. Oh. What an amazing experience with iPhone. Never felt typing on a phone without keypad was so easy. Very easy to type and amazing features.
As I was enjoying every bit of the phone, over the weekend the tragedy happened. Kept the phone on the table and as I was drinking water, the bottle slipped off my hand and almost a full bottle of water bathed the iPhone
Water had entered through the charging socket and immediately phone said something like “unable to recognize device connected” (device it was trying to recognize was water). Switched off the phone and it was not switching on back.
Googled and found about water sensor which would turn pink if the phone is really damaged by water. Checked and found it to be white (normal). Read further that it might dry and once moisture goes might switch on later. So dried with hair drier and left the phone for 10 hours.
In the meanwhile called Apple support and they said liquid damage nothing can be done. Remembered about some insurance when I bought the phone from Sangeetha and called them up. Wowwwww. They said if it is not switching on back, it is covered with insurance by default and get a new once in 3 days by jus paying for tax amount of less than 500. That was amazing to hear.
In the meanwhile when I attempted to switch it on in evening , it worked and now it is working perfectly fine
.
Infact posting this from the same iPhone

If this is the Last Word you are speaking…
I read this article from Ananda Vikatan, 2009 Diwali Malar edition. A life transforming article personally for me…The jist of the article in English.
This incident happened during World War II. When Hitler’s army captured millions of people, a family gets separated. Everyone the army had captured were taken to a Railway Station. There was a boy of 8 years old and his Sister, 13 years old. Just like them there were innumerable number of young brothers and sisters who were pushed there by the army. The weather was unbearably cold. Food packets were thrown once in a while and the children were trembling in cold and hunger. After waiting in the Station for 3 cold nights, the Train finally arrived. It was a very huge rush to board the train.
In the entire chaos, the boy missed his slippers. He immediately informed it to his sister. She did not know where her parents were taken by the army. She was thinking if she will ever get a chance to meet them or not. In that thinking, she heard his brother tell about missing slippers. She immediately burst out in anger, “We are already suffering a lot, not knowing anything about our tomorrow. In this, can’t you take care of your slippers, you fool” and goes on and on scolding the brother.
Immediately after that the next station comes and there the boys and girls are separated. The sister had no clue about where his brother was. She was put in a prison. It took 3.5 years for her to breathe free air after the War. She then knew that there was no one alive other than her in the entire family…
She remembered that the last few words she spoke to anyone in her family was to her brother and those were words of Irritation, frustration and Anger. She felt bad till her last breathe because of his anger.
The lesson I learnt from this is “If this is the last time you will speak to the other person to whom you are right now speaking, will you speak the same way you are speaking or will you change your style. If you say….No, if this is the last time I am speaking with them then I will speak more loving and not angry then correct yourself right now. For you never know if you will speak with him again“
Stranger in our House
A while ago, my Dad met a stranger who was new to our small town. From the beginning, Dad was fascinated with this enchanting newcomer and soon invited him to live with our family. The stranger was quickly accepted and was around from then on.
As I grew up, I never questioned his place in my family. In my young mind, he had a special niche. My parents were complementary instructors: Mom taught me good from evil, and Dad taught me to obey. But the stranger…he was our storyteller. He would keep us spellbound for hours on end with adventures, mysteries and comedies. If I wanted to know anything about politics, history or science, he always knew the answers about the past, understood the present and even seemed able to predict the future! He took my family to the first major league ball game. He made me laugh, and he made me cry. The stranger never stopped talking, but Dad didn’t seem to mind.
Sometimes, Mom would get up quietly while the rest of us were shushing each other to listen to what he had to say, and she would go to the kitchen for peace and quiet. (I wonder now if she ever prayed for the stranger to leave.)
Dad ruled our household with certain moral convictions, but the stranger never felt obligated to honor them. My Dad didn’t permit the liberal use of alcohol. But the stranger encouraged us to try it on a regular basis. He made cigarettes look cool, cigars manly and pipes distinguished. He talked freely (much too freely!) about sex. His comments were sometimes blatant, sometimes suggestive, and generally embarrassing.
I now know that my early concepts about relationships were influenced strongly by the stranger. Time after time, he opposed the values of my parents, yet he was seldom rebuked… And NEVER asked to leave.
More than fifty years have passed since the stranger moved in with our family. He has blended right in and is not nearly as fascinating as he was at first. Still, if you could walk into my parents’ den today, you would still find him sitting over in his corner, waiting for someone to listen to him talk and watch him draw his pictures.
His name?…. .. .
We just call him “TV”
He has a wife now….We call her ‘Computer.’
Their first child is “Cell Phone”.
Second child “i Pod”.
Wisdom Tooth Extraction
Yesterday, I had been to meet a Dentist @ Manipal Hospital for a recurring tooth pain. He said an X-Ray has to be taken as Gum is covering the Wisdom teeth and it is being infected. After the X-Ray he said infection is bad and two tooth on left side has to be removed.
He said they will injection and then start the extraction process. This was the first time tooth is being extracted for me. After injection (which itself was painful) inside the mouth, they setup all instruments around me as if abattle is going to happen (Eventually a battle did happen)
After around 15 minutes of the injection, Doctor started his small surgery. This is how it went:
1. I felt some drilling happening inside the mouth
2. They wanted me to open the mouth to the maximum even after I opened the maximum I could (I am not a Lion to open my mouth like that)
3. The pressure they gave to remove the tooth was unbearable. They had to inject me again to increase the numbness
4. After almost 15 minutes of battle, the doctor successfully removed the lower tooth (I know they did not get any co-operation from my side as I was jumping in the chair and moving my upper body when Pressure was too much. But they were very patient and got it done)
5. The upper was over in 1 minute after that.
6. After that had a juice and suddenly felt juice was tasting very different. Then I realized one side of tongue is numb and lost the sense of taste while other side was good
It was a good experience.
After the event, people said cheek would swell too much, pain would be unbearable even with pain killer etc. But after the surgery, I took some injection they gave and started on Anti biotic and pain killer. One day is over and till now no pain or swelling in the cheek.
Great work Doctor!!!
I heard the people there speaking to someone saying Next to Pregnancy, pain in Dental is the most severe.
I will never personally experience what is called Labour Pain in my life. But the very fact that I experienced the pain of tooth extraction which is less than Labour pain, makes me understand what Ladies must be going through to make their families complete. With new understanding and gratitude, I bow down to all the Ladies.
